Antipasta.

Father Hasil Cocteau, SJ; warned for mispronunciation of fine Italian cuisine.

I believe that you have erred. Antipasto is the traditional first course of an Italian dinner. The plural is antipasti. I know that you are under pressure but I have it spelled correctly. Peace. :halo:

I suspect a UK/USA anomaly, I shall go and investigate, even though I am clearly right.

I think it's Italian that we are interested in and I will be surprised if antipasto is proven to be incorrect. You can receive pasta in your antipasto for example.
I appreciate the attention that you will give this matter: Your thoroughness is commendable. :)

You are quite correct FHC and dannynomates is talking out of his arse. Antipasto is in Italian 'before the meal'. Its derivation is from the Latin pastum, fed or nourished. Pasta, on the other hand is derived in Italian from the Latin word pasta: paste, dough, or pastry.

Clearly we need Woppo or Völlïg Scrötäl back to settle this, Wiki says antipasto but I'm getting suspicious of them.

Thank you very much for helping to clear this matter up. It's good to know the derivation of the words. Much peace. :halo: :)

For heaven's sake, I am trying to run a forum here.

Your spelling of anomaly was correct and is the only way of spelling it.
