You'll all be in lockdown again by the middle of January at the very latest. Maybe even before the new year.

A new strain that transmits 70% more easily than an already fast spreading virus. FFS. You'll not want to walk out the front door at this rate.

If the hospitalisation and fatality rates are similar, a lot more n'er do wells are going to die on the basis that a lot more n'er do wells are going to get it. :heart:

It makes you wonder if this strain has caused the case rates in South Wales to rise exponentially in the last couple of months. My Da is a gonner that's for sure. :rolleyes:

On the bright side...

Premier League football and other elite sports with testing regimes and bubbles in place will continue in England despite the country heading into lockdown again.

England fell into line with Scotland, which earlier on Monday had agreed that football and rugby clubs can continue to train and play as normal after introducing new restrictions for the general public north of the border.

However, a March-style full lockdown due to concerns of rising Covid-19 cases means outdoor gyms, tennis courts and golf courses will close and outdoor team sports will be prohibited.

Covid: Fines reviewed after women 'surrounded by police'

A police force that was criticised for its "intimidating" approach to two walkers is to review its lockdown fines policy.

Jessica Allen and Eliza Moore said they were surrounded by police after driving five miles from their home for a walk on Wednesday, and fined £200 each.

Ms Allen, from Ashby-de-la-Zouch in Leicestershire, said she assumed "someone had been murdered" when she arrived at Foremark Reservoir on Wednesday afternoon.

When she and her friend were questioned by police, they were also told by officers the hot drinks they had brought along were not allowed as they were "classed as a picnic".
