Police also checked on residents in Powick, yesterday, although the latest information suggests that this area is not currently expected to flood again.

I can't help but wonder how the hardy Powickians would fare on Mt Washington where yesterday they recorded a wind gust of 134 mph and wind chill of - 54F.
The wind is blowing a steady 84 mph this morning. I guess the wind would help evaporate the swamp waters the drear town lives in.

She looks delightful, but don't be deceived, the car clearly shows she's a Powickian. If you ever spot one up Mt. Washington, let her fucking tyres down.

No, the only people that live on the top are those who staff the weather station. The restaurant and trail sign-in people commute up the mountain on a paved road.
There are two or three inns reached only by trail above timberline but 1000+ feet lower and those people live there during the season they are open.

We had just finished dinner tonight when the tornado sirens started going off. Was a massive storm right here, but the twister was just to the north of us, heading northeast. There were two towns in its forecast path, have not yet heard whether they got whacked as I was too busy giving Mrs Juicy a huge column.

I wrote about our weather in my blog, published here.

https://jericsmith.com/2020/05/26/midwestern-measures/

You'll notice some poems there, but I forgot to post a couple more so I'll share them here instead. :)

The weather here is awful,
In fact to be quite blunt,
One day it rains, the next it snows,
It really is a cunt.

Today was wet and windy,
It's just a fact of life.
On days like this you stay indoors,
And impregnate the wife.

Must be summer in North America: It's 118F right now at the weather station at Furnace Creek in Death Valley National Park. It'll cool down to 93F tonight and then go to 120F tomorrow.

We had a spot of rain today and within seconds water was coming through the ceiling. I phoned the council (my only contribution to the effort) and they said not to turn the power back on.

Mrs Aubrey nailed some wood to the ceiling and it all seems to be back to normal now. :)

It's a Win-Win-Win situation it seems :)
