Huge hailstones fell on Bethune, Colorado, USA today. One stone was reliably measured at over 5 inches long, a state record. The storm track was over 100 miles but the largest hail was in the vicinity of bethune.

That's a nasty weather condition especially if it's chilly and a person has to be out in it for hours.

I've been to Bethune in Northern France. It was sunny.

In North America, tonight's full moon is the Sturgeon Moon named after the largest fish of the continent which has been hunted and polluted to near extinction. They still survive from the Great Lakes up through the Moose River to Hudson Bay's arm, James Bay, at Moose Factory, Ontario.
It's also the night "when sturgeons walk the land" mainly in northern Minnesota and neighboring Canada. The Minnesotans celebrate by staying behind locked doors with the lights out and shades drawn. Occasional shotgun blasts are fired up the chimneys to entice the fish to go back into the deep cold waters of Lake Superior.

According to NOAA's global data - dating back to 1880 - this past July was the warmest on record.
Nine of the ten warmest Julys, globally, have occurred since 2005 with the past five years, including 2019, being the five warmest.
Global warming is one of the 8 earth metabolic systems undergoing significant negative change since 1950 - the year which marked the Great Acceleration.
The earth is warming faster than climatologists' computer models had predicted and the three main greenhouse gases, CO2, methane, and nitrous oxide, are entering the atmosphere at an increasing rate in spite of the accords reached in Rio, Kyoto, and Paris.

[NOAA stands for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration]

Hurricane Dorian stalled over the Bahamas for 36 hours as a Class 5. Sustained winds at one point reached 185 mph with gusts to 220 mph.

Searching has just begun but it appears thousands may have died and over 50,000 are homeless. No effort was made to evacuate the poor to safer areas.

It is one of the strongest storms ever to hit land and it's very unusual for a hurricane to linger for a day and a half. It's been several days and only now is the first aid arriving and first assessments made. Dorian, now at Class 2, is striking Nova Scotia Canada with 90km winds and heavy rain. Areas there will experience strong storm surge but not the complete overwash parts of the Bahamas experienced.

I saw some images on the news the other day, it looked totally devastating over there.

Are these intense hurricanes becoming more frequent and more intense? I'm not one for all this climate change malarkey, but weather patterns do seem to be more extreme in a lot of places lately. :wtf:

Storms of all types when the develop, are stronger and more intense. Pinning any single one to climate change is impossible but these events are in the models the include CO2 over 400 and Methane and Nitrous Oxide - two other greenhouse gases - are at record levels for the past 800,000 years.

The disruption of 8 earth systems is real and hundreds of earth scientists have been documenting the changes. The Anthropocene Working group of the UN has just voted to accept the Anthropocene as replacing the Holocene and the geologist have found evidence in the geologic record that approx 1950 is the best year. Radionucleotides that only come from above-ground A-bomb explosions and a worldwide soot layer have been proposed as the marker[s].

The Vostok ice core from Antarctica goes back 800,000 years and Greenland ice cores almost as long and both show the chemical composition of the atmosphere over time. The Great Acceleration began after WW2 when the USA was the only imperial power left intact and the grasp of its economic system throughout the world is the driver of the metabolic disruptions. For instance, dead zones at river deltas and in lakes and slow moving rivers is a result of the misuse of nitrogen fertilizers which only came into existence just priot to WW1.

A simple yes or no would have sufficed.

Well dannynogametes, it's not a question that can be answered with a "yes" or a "no."

May I politely suggest you stop being such a sycophantic wanker and simply tell the cunt to fuck off like everyone else does?
