Is that a speeding ticket under the wiper? :wtf:

Doubt it, don't think they would have been particularly fast from something dad :wanker2: told me once about them. Maybe it's a parking ticket?

Routemaster's familiar with those, I think, maybe he could confirm?

I'd like to think this was an earlier model. :)

The high school I went to had such a good academic reputation that kids from Baltimore County (Baltimore City is not in a county) would pay the couple of hundred dollars extra and commute into the city to attend. Naturally they had more money than we did. One of the guys from the county drove an MG Magnette which I thought was pretty wild looking.

Here's a pretty cool MG Magnette from 1957, a rare cabriolet model.

Thanks for the photo.
The Magnette this guy had was a restored mid 1950s 4 door sedan - it was a nice looking car but not like the photo.

Another car that parents bought for a commuter was a Fiat 600 and he put a bumper sticker on that read, "You've been passed by 22 horsepower"

OK, here's a 1955 4 door saloon (sedan)... like the one you spoke of?

Curiously I was thinking about the MG Magnette the other day - by the 60's they had changed a lot. They were given bodies designed by Pinin-Farina, and MG along with Austin, Morris, Wolseley and Riley had been merged into the BMC (British Motor Corporation). However the old company names still survived. In the MG Magnette's case, it meant five different makes of car all roughly the same with just minor trim and engine differences. So...

The MG Magnette

The Morris Oxford Mk4

The Austin Cambridge A60

The Wolseley 16/60

The Riley 4/72

As you can see, all virtually the same to look at with minor trim alterations. I think it was the MG and the Riley that were tweaked slightly mechanically for better performance.

BMC became BL (British Leyland) by the 70's and started producing crap like SoS posted up there, also adding the Jaguar, Rover and Triumph names to the collection. Those three were still decent cars till the late 70's when they became as shit as the other makes. :wtf:

Yes, the top photo is very much like the one he drove.

Wolseleys.

Yes they stood out because they had an illuminated badge on the grill which lit up when you switched the headlights on.

Well, this seems a good time to point out that it's actually 'childlike'. One word, danny. :wanker:
