You take the fender skirt off and then take the hub cap off jack it up and remove the wheel. :)

They'll be knock-offs, I wouldn't fancy swinging a hammer at them.

You think that's the case? I thought you would just reach up between the tire and back of the skirt and give the hardware holding it on a twist or two. Guess you're right but it doesnt make the car driver friendly does it?
The two cars I owned with fender skirts were easy to take off.

Almost every car of that era would have had knock-off wheels. Morgans still do. I've always called what you call fender skirts, spats. Another of those transatlantic differences. :)

They were always called skirts where I grew up and the hot rodders liked them to go as low on the rear wheels as possible - white sidewall tires too, natch :)

Some cars had fender skirts until a couple of decades ago I think.

Apparently the last production car with spats was the 1999-2006 Honda Insight.

If you're going to play it out of tune, then play it out of tune properly.

The old Citroen DS (and the CX and GS) had those partially hidden rear wheels. The other novelty was the hydropneumatic suspension that you could raise up and down allowing you to drive on three wheels if you had a blow-out. :)

Wow! I bet this photo gives SofS some screwball ideas.

Mexican Americans in southern California put pneumatic shock absorbers to their cars and lowered them to an inch of two off the ground. If they crossed a street with a shallow drainage channel, they would raise the car up a few inches to cross over without scraping. They were called " low riders"
Later, some low riders developed a system that would raise and lower the car very quickly and could make it bounce up and down as they slowly went through east L.A.

Low and Slow! :D

Thanks for the photo of the last car with fender skirts(spats). :)

I'm on my way up to Teesside to remove your wing and wheel on your current car to see how well you drive in that one without those. :grrr:

Excellent, I'm looking forward to removing your kneecaps with a baseball bat to see how well you walk without those. :)

No need to remove the kneecaps, just break them up; and, you've made a wise choice in picking a baseball bat. They are excellent for quick accurate impacts and this case calls for that. :)
When he's in his wheelchair for a year or more, your can send him a can of quality lubricating oil so he can roll along with a minimum of friction. :)

When he's in his wheelchair, I shall just remove one of his wheels.

Pink Floyd had a good car.

They probably turned the car radio right up when Arnold Layne was played. :)

Bet they would've sung along to the "WHY CAN'T YOU SEE?". bit.

Routemaster would've got the huff if he'd come down from Teesside to London that day.
