The Coo Coo Bird - Tom Ashley

Hope you don't get the falling weather - at least you don't have to drive in it. Nice here: upper 20sF now going to low 50sF this afternoon - no clouds, no wind

At Fancy Gap we once got 4 inches of sleet in a storm. Away from the crest of the Blue Ridge, the towns of Galax and Hillsville got over a foot of snow. I never saw so much sleet at one time.

The sleet we had last week caused some bad flooding, not just the amount that fell but the snow-melt off the moor tops which transfers to the streams and rivers lower down a few days later. :wtf:

Oobie Doobie - Roy Orbison

I can do without the floods - all you can do is watch the waters eat their way into houses and wash out bridges. In the mountains, most gravel state roads - I lived in Carroll County which had 450 miles of gravel state roads, the most in the state - had low water bridges which meant you could drive across the creek in normal or lower stream flows and the least bit of flooding closed the road.
