My latest pairing...
Rainmaster
Cerebral Caustic was never the easiest of Fall albums to appreciate, but this track is worth the price tag alone. The title itself suggests you're in for a fantastic song, and I for one was not disappointed. This is the rough mix which I think adds even more to the quality, has Hanley's bass ever sounded better? I think not. MES meanwhile interjects throughout with the 'Rainmaster' refrain, "Rainmaster in New York, Rainmaster in Belgique, Rainmaster in Basingstoke" , that sort of thing. I'd give it top marks but what comes next is going to astound. 9/10. Actually no, fuck it, Rainmaster is a definite 10/10.

Pop Stickers (AKA 'Let's')
Bugger me in Betws Y Coed, does it get any better than this? I'm no fan of early Fall as I might have mentioned before, but this live gem from the Red Box is beyond belief. The gruppe are in electrifying form, Bramah with his distinctive scratchy guitar, Mike Leigh and Riley creating a stupendous rhythm section and MES of course providing such intelligent and thought provoking lyrics. Sadly when it came to recording a studio version though, they gave it a completely different tune and called it Chock Stock, and as we all know that song was dire thanks to Hanley and Scanlon's attempts at recreating this classic. For the original though, and easy 10/10

Highest scoring pair yet I think.
