31 random reasons to love the fall ; there's 31 days in march, geddit?

buzzliteyr, Mar 14 2018, 09:40:41 AM wrote:That's fascinating stuff Starsky-Jalfrezi and with your permission I will be adding it to my Anally Retentive Fall web site. Do you think it could be said that Mark E Smith was carrying on your great British music hall traditions of artists like Bud Flannagan?
Yes, I think that could be right. If you add it to your website, will you be sure to credit me. I am thinking of padding this idea out, and making it into a book. It seems everyone else is doing so, and there's no reason to think my ideas and thoughts are any less original than anyone else's, I'll admit that I haven't read through what other fans have been saying on other websites for the past twenty or so years, but I am something of an original thinker, and feel sure my missives are bursts of colour in peoples otherwise grey and dull lives.

Yes, there are plenty of books out there by journalists, professional writers and so on, but they DO NOT have the authenticity of a real fan like me!

A real Fall fan would know that a book like this is the antithesis of what the group was about.

5. Current

How often have you been to see a group that roll out a few 'old' favourites, like 'Cowboy George'or 'I've Been Duped' play some new stuff, then finish on an old favourite, or two, like Mr Pharmacist or 'White Lightning'?

It doesn't matter though, always different, always the same.

Cobblers, 'African and White' was fuck all like 'Wishful Thinking', agree about Oasis though.

The Shitehouse Family were always the same, i.e. cunts.

6. Marmite.

There's not many people like The Fall a bit, they're a love hate thing. Except my mate, Gazza, who bought a few early singles, so I guess he quite liked them, at the time, then went off them.

I have only bumped into about thirty fans. I prefer to go and see them with people who I think will react badly. It's fun! I took a couple of mates who I think are fans of some rubbish German pop group, with a girl called Blixa Bargeld singing. Einstürzende Neubauten they're called, didn't she sing 99 Red Balloons? I watched their faces for signs of confusion, and found it hilarious, to see them staring in a trance, too shocked to say a word.

On the way home I pointed at them and said 'You didn't get any of that, did you?' They just stared at me, and walked off to the pub, chatting, and laughing. They didn't ask me.

I'm a bit worried about what they will say about me.

Silly Starsky, I've always loved them, you're thinking of my mate S4 Manc - he liked the early stuff but went off them when Brix joined. Something to do with a negative effect on his cock size, I had no problems of course. :)

8. Frustration

MES is controlling us, first there's brilliance, a top notch record, then some shitty release, he knew how to do this. It was a plan.

Maybe he was just really off his head from time to time.

9. Strange

They're a strange group. A whole range of strange. Avante garde even. Lots of weird bits. A massive palette, but life should be like a rich painting. The Fall songs are like thousands of rich paintings. Some of them featuring a curious shade of orange.

It wasn't effected either. You don't have to be strange to be strange.
